If you want to see these features the way they were meant to be seen, see my previous journal: [link]
For Artistic Nude week, I'll be doing features every day. Each day will focus on a different element. I bit off a little more than I could chew by picking lighting for the first day, which is why I'm a day late and will only do 6 journals.
Lighting
As with all photography, lighting is very important. I can't cover all of it, even if I spent 6 days on it. In a nutshell, the best light comes from angles other than straight-forward, such as the kind of light that comes from a camera-mounted flash (unless the intent is to wash out features). Often, the best lighting for portraits is lighting that comes from the side. Even when photographers shoot outdoors, they tend to prefer the "golden hour", which is the hour before sunset or hour after sunrise. I'll just let the following deviations speak for themselves. It's too much.
Single source

Multiple source

Back-lighting/Silhouettes

Natural light/Window light

Light painting

Projection

Hood chick gone good chick !
...but you will respect my gangsta!
I'm overloaded and overwhelmed and missing DA. I'm also feeling as if I've lost my connection to DA. It's disheartening how much even just a bit of time away from DA can make one feel disconnected and separate from things.
It is so good to know my work is still appreciated even when I've been quite absent lately. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
